Amelanchier alnifolia 'Regent'
'Regent' is a compact and cold-hardy Saskatoon cultivar ideal for home gardens. It produces masses of fragrant white flowers in mid-spring, attracting pollinators, followed by sweet, dark berries with a hint of vanilla. They make incredible jam and jellies, and are wonderful for fresh eating as well as providing habitat to birds. The plant is suckering and will easily form a manageable hedge 4–6 feet tall and wide. It is great for smaller locations or edible landscapes. Its blue-green foliage turns golden in fall. Self-fertile and very cold hardy to Zone 2. Prefers full sun to partial shade and well-drained soils.
