Description
Sambucus canadensis 'Ranch'. A excellent, highly productive and medicinal American elderberry variety. Ranch is one of the primary varieties currently used in commercial and home plantings in the United States. It is drought tolerant and smaller than most other elderberry varieties, making for easy harvest. Berries are born on first year wood, so heavy pruning is common and recommended. Used for everything from cough syrup to making a divine liqueur. American elderberries are native to North America. Use another S. canadensis cultivar as a pollinizer. Zone 3.
