Shinseiki, also known as New Century, is a self-fertile and very productive, beautiful yellow Asian pear introduced in Japan in 1945. The fruit is medium-large, with crisp, sweet, slightly tart, and very juicy flesh—perfect for fresh eating, especially in salads. Shinseiki hangs well on the tree and stores for about two months, offering reliable early-season harvests. Often bears fruit 2–3 years after planting. Crop thinning is recommended to maintain annual production and prevent limb breakage. Demonstrates good resistance to Pseudomonas and fire blight.
