Jonagold is a consistent taste test winner. Many growers list it as the top must-have in their home orchards, and it is reported to be the most commonly planted apple in Europe. Yellow/green with red stripes, the flavor is satisfying and perfectly balanced. A superb baking apple, maybe the best possible dried apple, it is also great for eating fresh. A good cider addition too. Sizable yields. Try it and you won’t be disappointed.

Pollination: This variety is a triploid and has sterile pollen. It will not pollinate other apples. Jonagold will produce best when grown with 2 additional apple trees which themselves are compatible pollinators. Jonathan and Golden Delicious will not work.
Time to productivity: 2-3 years depending on conditions.
Ripening time: October, possibly earlier.
Storage length: Does not keep well. Preserve it in any of the ways mentioned above.
