Rubus arcticus x stellarcticus
These ground cover raspberries, sometimes known as Arctic Raspberry or Nagoonberry are a low-growing, thornless raspberry that forms a dense mat of bright green leaves through spreading rhizomes. In late spring, soft pink to lavender flowers appear, followed by red berries in mid-summer with a sweet, aromatic raspberry flavor. This unique edible groundcover has vibrant red and burgundy foliage in fall. Selected for both vigor and fruit quality, they are well suited to cool climates and naturalized plantings. A deciduous perennial ground cover raspberries will re-sprout yearly from their roots. For best fruit production use a mixture of cultivars such as 'Anna', ‘Sophie’, ‘Valentina’, or ‘Beta’. If you purchase more than 1 plant we will provide a mix of varieties for cross pollination. Bred in Sweden by Dr. Gunny Larssen. These cultivars were her favorite varieties for flavor, plant vigor, fruit quality, and extreme hardiness after years of breeding work.
