Chicago Hardy Fig is a cold-hardy and productive variety that thrives in diverse climates, including the Pacific Northwest. This variety produces a main crop in late summer to fall, with potential for an early breba crop in warm climates. It grows to 10–15′ if unpruned but can be maintained smaller for container growing. In colder regions, it may die back in winter but regrows vigorously in spring, fruiting on new growth.
