Schisandra (also called Magnolia Vine, Wu Wei Zi or Five Flavor Berry), comes from Northern China and Russia. The berries are well regarded in Chinese Medicine, and the flavor is completely unique, tasting different to each person eating it. They are used for tea or syrup, or can be juiced or eaten fresh, giving energy and stimulation. Plants can produce up to 20lbs in proper conditions. They prefer partial shade, good moisture and drainage. Vines reach about 10’ And typically take 3 years to produce. This variety bears good crops of large, tasty fruit. It is hardy to -35° F, USDA Zone 3. It has white flowers and bright red berries. Every part of the plant can be used to make tea and medicine.
