Ribes × nidigrolaria ‘Jostaberry’ Jostaberry is a hybrid of black currant and gooseberry This thornless shrub produces abundant crops of dark purple-black berries that ripen in July. The fruit is larger than black currants with a firm texture and a mild currant flavor, making it excellent for fresh eating, jams, jellies, and juice. Jostaberry is very vigorous, hardy, and easy to grow, with strong resistance to powdery mildew, white pine blister rust, and several common currant pests. The plants leaf out early in spring and develop bright yellow fall color. High in vitamin C.
