Black Gold Cherry is a highly productive, disease resistant, firm and deliciously sweet black cherry. It is late blooming to avoid late frosts and was selected from the Geneva New York Fruit Testing Program in 2001 from over 400 seedlings, based on its superior qualities.

Pollination: Self-fertile, but planting with a second sweet cherry as a pollinator will increase fruit.

Description

Prunus avium ‘Black Gold’

Black Gold Cherries are large, firm, deep red ("almost black") with excellent flavor and crack resistance—perfect for both fresh eating and processing. Highly productive and self-fertile, Black Gold is also late-blooming, making it more frost-resistant and a valuable universal pollenizer. Exceptionally cold-hardy, with strong disease tolerance and adaptability to many climates.
