Peach, Charlotte

Prunus persica

A good disease-resistant variety for our rainy Pacific Northwest climate where peaches are notoriously hard to grow. Charlotte Peaches bears good crops of wonderful sweet semi-freestone fruit. It has good resistance to both bacterial canker and peach leaf curl. Excellent for both fresh eating and canning. Plant in the warmest, sunniest place you can. Shelter – such as the eve of a house – is helpful, as is a stone wall or other source of reflected and stored heat. Good airflow is also important to peach tree health.

An excellent disease-resistant variety, Charlotte Peach bears good crops of deliciously sweet, orange-red, fruit. Charlotte also appears to be particularly resistant to bacterial canker, a bark disease that can be a problem in our wet climate.
