Beautiful ornamental with lace-like purplish black foliage and pink flowers. Very productive, good sized clusters of black elderberries, known for their medicinal value. Used for everything from cough syrup to making a divine liqueur. Somewhat deer resistant, if only because of the height. Prefers moist soils, can be grown in sun or shade. This plant is a true showpiece and is often planted as a central focal point in yards and gardens.
