Description

Malus domestica ‘Sansa’

Sansa is an early-season cross of Akane and Gala prized for its crisp, juicy flesh and vibrant, tropical-red blush. Exceptional sweet flavor with a bright, refreshing fruity acidity, it has a complex aromatic intensity that stands out among early varieties. Sansa shines as a fresh-eating dessert apple—perfect right off the tree—but stores only briefly, lasting up to one month under ideal conditions. The tree is highly productive, and has strong resistance to apple scab, fireblight, and cedar-apple rust. Should be thinned to develop best size.

USDA Zone: 4–9

Pollination: Needs a different apple as a pollinator to produce fruit. Akane and Gala will not work

Time to productivity: 2–3 years depending on conditions

Ripening time: Late August to early September

Storage length: Keeps well for 1 month or more in proper conditions
